When I was a girl, my bedroom was always filled with birds.
There were parakeets and cockatiels, parrots, and booby birds, shearwaters, and young fluffy albatross with the most amazing hairdoos. At other times the house rang with Akamai the mina bird's cheery chatter, and the deep gazing eyes of the great horned owl who would take off across the living room, and eventually took 'walks' with us around the neighborhood.
And of course, chickens! Lots of chickens that we kids learned to hypnotize by holding in our laps and stroking so softly, so softly!

About a year ago now, something wonderful happened. I'd been going through an increasingly challenging time with my health, which has been a major teacher in my life, and was being brought to my knees by the experience. When my dear friend and partner Fred encouraged me to take up art, I was touched by an excitement that was like a thousand smiles singing inside me! I've always been an adventurous one,,, artistic, musical, and a great lover of spontaneous play.
